A special meeting was held on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at 7 PM. with Mayor Anthony C. Leone, Jr. presiding. Also present, Deputy Mayor Michael A. Mahoney, Trustees Thomas J. Thomas, James G. Collea and Charlie Carey. Mayor Leone asked for a motion to hire Greg DeLuca as Chief of Police pending a favorable background check.
Discussion centered on the qualifications of the candidate and the full support of the Board. A motion was made by Trustee Collea to hire Mr. DeLuca pending a positive background check, seconded by Trustee Carey; all in favor 5-0, with a roll call vote taken.
Norm Seakan of 2211 Highland Ave. asked if the Village could light the whole Christmas Tree this year for the holiday. Trustee Thomas will talk to the Highway Superintendent about putting out more lights and lighting the Municipal Bldg.
A motion was made by Deputy Mayor Mahoney to enter executive session, regarding police union negotiations, seconded by Trustee Carey; all in favor 5-0.
No motions were made and no votes were taken during this session.
Deputy Mayor Mahoney moved to end executive session seconded by Trustee Carey; all in favor 5-0. Meeting was resumed.
