December 04, 2012: Regular Board Mtg.

December 4, 2012 Village of Yorkville Board meeting called to order at 7:30PM,

Mayor Anthony C. Leone, Jr. presiding. Present were Deputy Mayor Michael A. Mahoney, Trustees James G. Collea, Thomas J. Thomas & Charlie Carey. After the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance, a motion was made by Trustee Carey to accept the minutes from November's Board Meeting, seconded by Trustee Thomas; all in favor 5-0.

Public comment portion of meeting was opened to the audience.

•1.      Mike Sardo, owner Venice Pizza, questioned the engineer's bill regarding his proposed addition to his business. The Planning Board Chairman suggested that it took quite a while for him to correct the plans, as there were several discrepancies.

•2.      Norm Seakan, 2211 Highland Ave. suggested we shop on the internet for better purchase prices for our Village and to be more diligent in our spending.

•3.      Jim Mackay, 405 Calder Ave. asked the Mayor to explain the purpose of a BAN for the Village; the Mayor explained.

•4.      Toni Mackay mentioned that the Village Tree Lighting was postponed until Sat. 12/8 at 5 PM.

Deputy Mayor Mahoney suggested that we erect no parking signs on Whitesboro St between Bunker Ave. & Oatley as it seems to be a narrow part of the street. A motion was made by Deputy Mayor Mahoney, seconded by Trustee Carey to put signs up and to schedule the Local Law procedure to make the signs legal; all in favor 5-0. A public hearing will be held on January 8th at 7PM on this matter and it will be for

Local Law 1-2013. He also reported that the Highway Dept. is taking down the ceiling tiles in the Truck Room to prepare the ceiling for painting in the spring. Joe Koziarz has been rewiring to prepare for the installation of radiant heaters next week.

 

Trustee Thomas had nothing to report.

 

Trustee Collea reported that the Tree Lighting has been rescheduled for Sat. Dec. 8th.

He also mentioned that the owner of 9 W. Whitesboro St. has been pumping water into the street from his basement and that Codes has notified him that he must stop doing this.

 

Trustee Carey reported that he is proceeding with the letters to businesses regarding their Building Codes Inspection.

 

Financial report was presented and vouchers in the amount of $35,834.06 were approved.

 

Police Chief DeLuca reported that the rules & regulations for the department have been updated and pending  review, a copy will be given to the Union President for their perusal. His suggestion regarding parking on Whitesboro St

is being addressed at a public hearing on Jan.8, 2013.

 

Highway Superintendent Larry Felitto reported that leaf picking is ongoing, the Christmas decorations are done, garbage bag inventory has been done, and National Grid claims they are going to replace the light poles on the egress ramp to Oriskany Blvd.

 

Fire Dept. had nothing to report.

 

Codes Dept. presented a written activity report.

 

Planning Board presented the minutes of their last meeting.

 

ZBA had no report.

 

Court had nothing to report.

 

Mayor Leone asked the Board for a motion to sign the Town of New Hartford Salt Agreement. A motion was made by Trustee Carey, seconded by Trustee Collea; all in favor 5-0.

A motion was made by Trustee Carey to move January's meeting to January 8th because of the Holiday, seconded by Deputy Mayor Mahoney; all in favor 5-0.

Mayor Leone mentioned that the Employee Christmas Party would be held at Club Monarch on Dec. 21st from 12-2 PM. He invited all employees to attend.

The Mayor said he would pursue the change of Health Insurance Options.

 

Correspondence was read. A letter from the Village to the Fire Dept. regarding new members, a letter from Worker's Comp to let us know that a former employee's claim was settled and closed.

A list for the towing rotation was given to the Board members for 2013. Advanced Auto, Burkart Auto, Exclusive Motors, Delahunt Towing & J's Auto were the towing companies selected.

A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Trustee Carey, seconded by Trustee Thomas; all in favor 5-0.
