January 2, 2019 the monthly Village of Yorkville Board Meeting was called to order at 7PM by Mayor Michael A. Mahoney, at the Municipal Building at 30 Sixth St. Yorkville. In attendance were Trustees James G. Collea, Richard F. Hayes, David J. Morosco and Deputy Mayor Thomas J. Thomas. Also, present Attorney John W. Dillon and Village Clerk Stephanie Nowak.
Motion 1-2019 to approve last month’s minutes was made by Deputy Mayor Thomas, seconded by Trustee Collea; all in favor 5-0.
Motion 2-2019 to approve January’s vouchers in the amount of $49,493.54 was made by Trustee Collea, seconded by Trustee Morosco; all in favor 5-0.
Public comment portion of the meeting was opened.
Norm Seakan of 2211 Highland Ave. commented on a large amount of street lights that are out across the Village. Larry Felitto with the Highway Department commented that there is always a lengthy wait for National Grid to repair the street lights. They are aware of the outages and Felitto follows up as necessary with National Grid.
There were no other public comments. Public comment portion of the meeting was closed.
Motion 3-2019 was made by Trustee Collea, seconded by Trustee Hayes to approve the 2019 list of elected Fire officials for Yorkville Fire and Hose Company; all in favor 5-0.
Deputy Mayor Thomas reported that he will be conducting an annual Court Compliance Audit on January 14 at 10AM, for the Yorkville Village Court. Deputy Mayor Thomas also reported that the Gray Village of Yorkville Garbage bag inventory has been on track and that the company we purchase them from has changed the case size and this will result in a savings of $1900.00 for the Village. The Village of Yorkville does not make a profit on the bag system.
Trustee Collea had nothing to report at this meeting.
Trustee Hayes had nothing to report at this time.
Trustee Morosco had nothing to report at this time.
The Financial report was submitted in writing.
Village Attorney Dillon had nothing to report.
The Police report was presented in writing. Officer Allen informed the Board that the Yorkville Police Department was working with the LA Police Department in connection with the Swatting call that the department received in late December. They have collaborated with their knowledge and it is being shared with the FBI and Interpol.
Officer Allen reported that Shop with a Cop was once again a success. The Officers took 5 children on a shopping trip to Target. The officers and Children all had a good time.
Office Allen will be attending a three-week course at MVCC for supervisor training. The course is free of charge.
Larry Felitto of the Highway department reported that they had been picking leaves through the month of December and have most of them cleaned up. The weather kept the leaves from falling until late in the season and therefore the Village saw snowfall before the leaves had fallen. The highway has been working on cleaning up Bruno’s way and have been doing some building maintenance.
Codes reports were written.
Chief Morosco of the fire department reported that they ended the year with 503 alarms. Chief also said that the department was given an ISO review and the department’s score was at a 4, and now the department is scoring a 3. This is a great improvement for the department and Village.
Planning Board report is written.
Zoning Board report is written.
Mayor Mahoney wanted to remind all Board Members to start budget preparation. Get together with department heads and discuss needs. Stewarts is moving along, there will be a public hearing during the Planning Board Meeting in February.
Motion 4-2019 was made by Trustee Collea, seconded by Trustee Morosco to adjourn the meeting at 7:12PM; all in favor 5-0.
