April 09, 2019: Village Board Meeting

April 2, 2019 the monthly meeting of the Yorkville Board of Trustees was called to order at 7PM by Mayor, Michael A. Mahoney, at the Municipal Building at 30 sixth St. in Yorkville. In attendance were Deputy Mayor Thomas J. Thomas and Trustees James G. Collea, Richard F. Hayes and David J. Morosco. Also, in attendance were Village Attorney John W. Dillon and Village Clerk/Treasurer Stephanie Nowak. The meeting was started with the Pledge of Allegiance led by Mayor Mahoney. Motion 19-2019 to approve the minutes from the previous month was made by Deputy Mayor Thomas, Seconded by Trustee Hayes; all in favor 5-0. Motion 20-2019 was made by Trustee Morosco, seconded by Trustee Collea to approve April vouchers in the amount of $46,059.94; all in favor 5-0. Motion 21-2019 was made to approve a payment in the amount of $1062.00 to O’Brien and Gere by Trustee Collea, seconded by Trustee Morosco; all in favor 5-0. Motion 22-2019 to approve the payment of $119,076.98 to National Water Main Cleaning was made by Deputy Mayor Thomas, Seconded by Trustee Hayes; all in favor 5-0. At this time Mayor Mahoney introduced police intern Matthew who is an intern from Utica College pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice. Public comment portion of the meeting was opened: No comments were made. Deputy Mayor Thomas had nothing to report at this time. Trustee Collea stated that the Fire Department has responded to 36 alarms since the start of the year. The Fire Department will begin passing out fundraiser information on May 7. Trustee Collea mentioned that it is time again to send a letter to the state regarding the conditions of Champlin Ave. Trustee Collea wanted to thank the Yorkville PBA for donating to the youth league in support of their trip to Myrtle Beach. Trustee Hayes stated that the reports for the Zoning Board, Planning Board and codes department were included in the packet and presented as written. Trustee Hayes informed the Board that the Planning Board unanimously accepted Stewart’s site plan. Trustee Morosco informed the Board that the Fire Department has received their industrial washing machine. This will help to clean the carcinogens off the turnout gear after the fire fighter has entered a burning structure. Thank you to John Constas for taking the lead on this. Financial Report was presented as written. Village Attorney John W. Dillon had nothing to report at this time. Police department report was written. Investigator Frank Allen was present and added that the Department has two new hires who have started training this week. Larry Felitto delivered the highway report. Felitto stated that the paving on Calder Ave. should begin soon. The weather is breaking, and the snow has melted, the Village will commence with green waste pick every Tuesday till the snow falls again next Winter. The Village has contracted out the removal of several large trees that pose a threat to properties. The Village has one Police car that is in for repair, it will need a new engine, but is still under warranty. The Village has 3 Patrol cars in use. Codes report was written. Fire Department had a training class, and no one was available to report. Planning Board report was written. Zoning Board report was written. Mayor Mahoney reported that MaryAnne Buttonschone will be hosting a Town Hall meeting Wednesday, May 1, 2019. The meeting will be held at 6PM in the Board room of the Municipal Building. The Mayor and several of the Board members will be attending a retirement diner for Mayor Rothdeiner who is retiring from the Village of Oriskany after 40 years of service.
