July 02, 2019: Yorkville Village Board Meeting

The July 2 2019 monthly meeting of the Village of Yorkville Board of Trustees was called to order by Mayor Michael A. Mahoney at 7PM. Present were; Deputy Mayor James G. Collea, Trustees; David J. Morosco, Deborah L. Constas and Adam J. Sassone. Also present was Village Attorney John Dillon and Village Clerk/Treasurer Stephanie Nowak. Motion 47-2019 was made to approve last months minutes by Trustee Morosco, seconded by Deputy Mayor Collea; all in favor 5-0. Motion 48-2019 to approve July vouchers in the amount of $167,129.37 was made by Trustee Sassone, seconded by Trustee Morosco; all in favor 5-0. Motion 49-2019 to approve $48,500 short term principal payment for sewer rehab was made by Deputy Mayor Collea, seconded by Trustee Morosco; all in favor 5-0. Motion 50-2019 to approve a resolution for Judge Kulaga to apply for a JCAP grant was made by Trustee Sassone, Seconded by Trustee Constas; all in favor 5-0. WHEREAS, the Village Court of the Village of Yorkville wished to apply for a grant for items specified in the JCAP grant application, and WHEREAS, the Village Board of Trustees of the Village of Yorkville Board held a meeting on July 2, 2019 and WHEREAS, a resolution was introduced by Trustee Sassone, was seconded by Trustee Constas, and was approved by a vote of 4-0; all in favor. NOW THEREFOR BE T RESOLVED, that the Yorkville Village Justice, Joan Kulaga is authorized by the Village of Yorkville Board to apply for a JCAP grant as stated herein. Resolution is effective as of July 2, 2019. Motion 51-2019 was made by Deputy Mayor Collea, seconded by Trustee Morosco to approve a final BAN payment in the amount of $98,736 for the Firetruck; All in favor 5-0. Motion 52-2019 to approve a payment to O'Brien and Gere in the amount of $708 for continued sewer rehab work was made by Trustee Constas, seconded by Trustee Sassone; all in favor 5-0. Motion 53-2019 to approve deposit of payment to TAS Electronics for security upgrades to the Municipal Building was made by Trustee Morosco, seconded by Deputy Mayor Collea; all in favor 5-0. Motion 54-2019 was made by Trustee Constas, seconded by Trustee Morosco to approve a block party on Tabor Place July 4th. All in favor 5-0. Motion 55-2019 to approve Joseph Morosco as a working highway supervisor was made by Trustee Sassone, seconded by Trustee Constas; all in favor 5-0. Public comment portion of the meeting was opened: Donna Dellano of Elmwood addressed the Board with her concerns about the Taco Bell exit onto Elmwood. This will be a work in progress until we can find a resolution. Deputy Mayor Collea had nothing to report. Trustee Morosco welcomed and congratulated the new board members and wished them luck. Trustee Constas nothing to report. Trustee Sassone thanked everyone for welcoming him onto the Board and wished everyone a happy Fourth of July. financial Report was presented as written. Village Attorney had nothing to report at this time. Police Department report was written. Highway Department Superintendent Sal Granato stated that they were working on the drainage issue on Edwards Ave. The Village of Yorkville was the recipient of a Tree Inventory Grant and there will be people in the Village early next week to complete the tree inventory. Codes Report was written. Fire department had nothing to report at this time. Planning Board report was written. Zoning Board report was written. Mayor Mahoney commented on the progress of the new Stewarts Shop, and that it will be opening soon. Mayor Mahoney also stated that National Grid has started the process of converting the Village over to L.E.D. street lighting.
