December 03, 2019: Yorkville Village Board

The December 3, 2019 Yorkville Board of Trustees meeting was called to order at 6PM by Mayor Michael A. Mahoney. The meeting was led with the Pledge of Allegiance. Present were; Deputy Mayor James G. Collea and Trustees David J. Morosco, Deborah L. Constas and Adam J. Sassone. Also present were Village Attorney John Dillon and Clerk/Treasurer Stephanie Nowak. Motion 80-2019 was made to approve the minutes from the November meeting. Motion to accept was made by Deputy Mayor Collea, seconded by Trustee Morosco; all in favor 5-0. Motion 81-2019 was made by Trustee Morosco to approve the vouchers in the amount of $166,339.95. Deputy Mayor Collea seconded the motion; all in favor 5-0. Motion 82-2019 to approve payment of 63,501.76 to National Water Main Cleaning was made by Trustee Sassone, seconded by Trustee Constas; all in favor 5-0. Motion 83-2019 to approve payment of $12,106.00 to O’Brien and Gere was made by Trustee Sassone, seconded by Trustee Constas; all in favor 5-0. Public Comment portion of the meeting was opened. A resident from Arnold Ave. wanted to thank the Highway Department for doing a excellent job keeping the streets clear during the latest snow storm. He also wanted to comment on the great job done by the Yorkville Police Department who have apprehended the individuals who are responsible for stealing items out of resident’s vehicles throughout the Village. Public Comment was closed. Deputy Mayor Collea thanked the Highway Department for coming in on Veterans Day to make sure they picked up all the leaves that were at the street before the snowstorm. Trustee Morosco stated that Santa will be visiting the Village on Saturday, December 21, between 9AM and 5PM. Trustee Morosco wished everyone a Happy Holiday. Trustee Constas reported that the Tree Lighting Ceremony went well considering the weather. Trustee Sassone said that he never new about the Tree Lighting Ceremony and would like to get the word out more for next year in hopes that more Village residents will participate. Financial Report was written and is available at the Village Clerks Office. Village Attorney had nothing to report at this time. Police Department gave a written report of each full-time officer’s activity. Highway Department Supervisor, Joseph Morosco reported that they got through the first big storm of the year with ease. All trucks and plows ran well. Codes Department gave a written report of monthly activity. This report is available at the Village Clerk’s Office. Fire Department Chief Joseph Morosco reported that they held the Election of Officer’s the previous night and they are looking forward to a great year. Planning Board and Zoning Board reports were written and available at the Village Clerk’s Office. There will be no Zoning Board meeting for the month of December. The Planning Board is awaiting the final plans for the Hoffman Carwash site. Mayor Mahoney read a card that was sent from a resident of Fairview Ave. thanking the Village for bringing a dumpster to Fairview Ave. that the residents could use at no charge who had things to discard of due to the flooding that occurred on October 31, 2019. Mayor Mahoney wished everyone a Merry Christmas and wanted all to be safe. Motion 84-2019 to adjourn meeting was made by Trustee Sassone, seconded by Trustee Constas; all in favor 5-0.
